19 People Displaced By 2-Alarm Christmas Eve Fire In Springfield: Officials

Nineteen people were displaced after a two-alarm fire ripped through a Springfield home on Christmas Eve, officials said.

The fire occurred at 155 Bay Street in Springfield on the night of Saturday, Dec. 24, according to Springfield Fire on Twitter. Responding crews saw heavy smoke coming from the three-tiered structure upon arrival. 

Everyone inside was safely evacuated and no one was injured, MassLive reports. The fire apparently started in a third-floor bedroom, Springfield Fire said

The Red Cross was helping those displaced find housing, clothing and food. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
